Skiing and Spain is not normally something you would expect to see in the same sentence, but actually Formigal in the Four Valleys is actually Spain’s largest resort and it happens to be a ski resort!!!
Formigal has over 137 kilometres of ski area and covers 7 beautiful peaks in the Spanish Alps, known better as the Four Valleys, it offers a range of runs to suit absolute beginners, through the intermediates and even caters for the most advanced of skiers. Snow boarders can enjoy the wide uncrowded runs and the 2 terrain parks with half pipes, kickers and excellent lift system
Beginners have a choice of 24 runs in Formigal in Spain, and can enjoy lovely gentle nursery slopes and a brilliant ski school with English speaking instructors. Families have a good selection of family friendly hotels, also offering childcare facilities and the ski school offer excellent crèches and kindergarten, offering both ski and non ski options. 6 mornings in the crèche will cost approximately £129, so excellent value, I’m sure you'll agree.
Intermediates have a great choice with over 30 runs to choose from, offering lovely tree lined blues and more difficult steep reds.
Advanced are well catered for here in Formigal, with a massive choice of over 40 black runs, and an excellent choice of more difficult reds to try out, not to mention the chutes and mogul runs. Also the off piste opportunities are endless, with any of the 7 peaks to ski, you must try a guided tour, with an experienced tour guide to take you to areas only the brave hearted dare to try out!!
The transfer time to Formigal is only a 90 minute bus ride making Spain another great destination for skiing.
The night-life in Formigal is as lively or quiet as you want it, the selection of bars and restaurants is excellent so you will find something and somewhere to suit all tastes and ages. There is a good selection of shops too.
Non skiing activities are also available too, try a morning dog sledding, snow biking or snow shoeing, or try a bit of night skiing or night tobogganing, great fun for all the family.
Formigal is a great all round resort, it wont break the bank and it offers something for everyone, regardless of level or ability. Spain really does have it all.

August is the busiest month, whileMay and October are the best times for both ideal weather and fewercrowds. Madrid and the high central area can get very cold duringwinter.
