Seefeld Guide

This resort is also famous for skiing legend Anton ‘Toni’ Seelos, who not only left his mark on the Alpine ski sport, but changed the very character of slalom by introducing the parallel swing. It is thanks to him that the resort became an insider tip for Alpine skiing, sadly he is no longer with us, but his legacy lives on with everyone who visits each year.

For those avid enthusiasts who love to Alpine ski, the sunny slopes of the Tyrol promise great fun for all, from beginners to experts. The Olympiaregion Seefeld boasts 48kms of piste and around 30 cable cars or lifts which are able to take you to the piste of your choice.

For those nervous novices, you can take your tentative ‘first steps’ on the Hinterfeld and Neuleutasch as these are gentle slopes which allow you to build your confidence. The more experienced skier may want to enjoy the challenges that the Gschwandtkopf ski area can offer and this can be reached from three towns, Reith, Seefeld and Musern; this provides plenty of activities with a terrific view of Seefeld’s Landmark, the Seekirchl.

Many skiers are also active in Leutasch on the ‘Katzenkopf/Kreithlift’ and Birkenlift, Geigenbehellift (Seefeld).

There are almost 50 restaurants as well as many cafes and bars for you to try, some are similar in the delicious dishes they offer, but they are all equally mouth-watering. One particular favourite is the ‘Sportcafe Sailer’ which serves many traditional Tyrolean dishes and has a real local atmosphere. In winter, freshly made soups are a popular choice.

Alternatively, why not indulge yourself with the Austrian dish Grestli (made with potatoes, eggs and bacon) so you get a real feel for the culture.
