When you are skiing with children, its so important to get the right resort, the right accommodation and the right facilities. We recommend Flaine in France as it offers all of these things. Skiing in Flaine takes place is a huge, snowy white bowl, with the Grand massif mountain, you can experience some beautiful tree lined runs leading through to nearing resorts of Les Carr-oz, Morrillon, Samoens and Sixt. Flaine has one of Europe’s famous ski schools, “The Ecole Du Ski”, with over 400 English speaking instructors. The ski school also operates a Kindergarten and a crèche taking children from 3 years old for half days or full days and include skiing lessons and activities to keep the little ones entertained. All the nannies and childminders are UK qualified so your know your little ones are in safe hands so you can go off and enjoy the piste. Many of the hotels and chalets also offer in house baby sitting services too.
Beginners and children in Flaine will enjoy the green runs and nursery slopes which are located at the bottom of Flaine Floret area, Flaine is a great resort to learn to ski, it has a reassuring feel about it, perfect for families and first time skiers and boarders.
Intermediates will be challenged with the variety of runs with in the Grand Massif area with plenty blues and reds, for a long red try the Menphisto run which starts at the summit of Grand Platieres mountaintop and you ski right back into the resort of Flaine. The Serpentine is another cruisy run with plenty of twists and turn to practise your technique.
For those advanced among you who like a challenge, try the steep Diamond Noir, with is moguls and tight turns, but there are over 144 different levels and the areas are huge so there is plenty to keep you entertained. Boarders will enjoy the wide runs and variety of drag lifts through out the bowl and the board park is superb.
The heart of the resort if Flaine Forum, its totally traffic free, lively and friendly, packed with lovely places to eat and drink. There is also a good selection of supermarkets if you are self catering and a few shops to browse when you are done skiing. For the non skiers there is dog sledding, tobogganing, ice skating and an indoor pool, not to mention bowling and a cinema.
